BREAK AWAY… by Madel C. Adan, IV-A

“There is no growth without change, no change without fear or loss, and no loss without pain.” What we are at present is the result of what we were before. Have you ever regretted something that you did in the past? Since humans are not perfect, I’m sure 100% of the readers will answer yes. But if you look at this article positively, you will realize that all those past fiascos have their purpose. You may be familiar with the saying; Experience is the best teacher. It’s true! Mistakes have their good points too! You get to learn from them.
There are no shortcuts to maturity. Maybe some of you may be experiencing the things that I am dealing with now. As a teenager, you may also be curious to try different things; in short, be stubborn or ‘pasaway’. I won’t blame you if that is so. I guess, it’s part of growing up. But if you admit it to yourself that you are bullheaded, you must be responsible enough to deal with its consequences. When words are spoken, be ready for opinions. You cannot please everybody with what you say. When acts are done, be ready for judgments, because you cannot make all people understand your side. The truth will set you free, but it may first make you miserable!
So what’s the sense of all the blah-blah I’m writing in here? I want people to understand that it’s just a matter of accepting ourselves! You won’t live in the past (it’s only a dream), so you need not have track records of the bad things that have happened to you. What’s important is that you won’t commit the same mistakes and you’re ready to change for the better. BREAK AWAY and unleash your inner selves! Show people who you are and prove them wrong of their judgments!

Who I Am by Christine T. del Mundo IV-A

History has clothed me with a blanket of white,
Conservative and prim to everybody’s sight.
My past has wrapped me with an image of purity,
Chaste, meek, and innocent is what I ought to be…

But am I still the silent angel whose wings are clipped at home?
Who knows nothing but household chores?
Am I still the young lady who cannot follow her heart?
Whose beauty is brought by dowry and by right?

If I am no longer that lady… what am I now in this world?
Am I a lost little girl, who shall shiver in the cold?
The frozen past has come to me, concealing me in ice further still,
Here now is a lady who takes up arms at will.

What has my present laid upon my lap, makes me more different?
These ladies around me have broken my wings and wound so sore
Chastity has been erased from a vocabulary which is limited
To the ideas of pleasure and fun.. they are cut with modernity, hearts bled.

Just For You, Rachel by Jeffrey G. Holgado, IV-A

Once in my life I’ve known someone
Who has a unique mood
I’ve never expected in my entire life
That our friendship can turn out really good.

I remember the times we’ve been through
Our jokes that have made us laugh
The problems you and I have shared with
That has drawn us closer more.
Don’t fill up
On this world’s crumbs;
Feed your soul on the Living Bread
Give your all to Jesus Christ
He gave His all for you!

CHREA by Rea Camille P. Atienza IV-A & Christine T. del Mundo IV-A

Challenges in life that we have encountered
Teach us to fight and face them together
The start of everything that will not fade forever,
And keeping our friendship stay stronger.

Hoping that it will last until the end
Sharing of thought in everytime we spend
Friendship like a bamboo that always bends
But always assuring we’re on fashion trends.

Rectifying each other’s mistakes
But judging one’s life, that’s what we can’t make!
Willing to give everything just for each other’s sake
That’s why bountiful blessing is what we take

Everyone is amazed in the three years of closeness:
They don’t know but it’s about accepting strengths and weaknesses
Carrying our friendship full of happiness
Eventhough sometimes we’re both loveless

A shoulder to lean on when one is alone
Lifting her up, never letting her down
Smile when one smiles, when one cries, the other cries harder
A promise of friendship till tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and the day after forever.

A Day Dream by Jozanne Barbara A. Julag-ay, IV-A

I fly on clouds to the heavenly bodies up the sky.
Voyage through the waters of Pacific, Mississippi and Nile.
Surf in the wary beautiful beaches of tropical Hawaii.
Conquer North Pole against its mountain of ice.
Gamble in Las Vegas from night until the morning shines.

I write books greater than Harry Potter of J.K. Rowling.
Make an invention that rises above all things.
Compose and perform a song that makes the whole world sing.
Direct films that conquer the stage of acting.
Design suits and gowns of Hollywood couples marrying.

I take a ride on a carpet with Aladdin and Genie, as well.
Fight for freedom like Mulan did before in love she fell.
Take the spell out of Beast as he’s kissed by Belle.
Make Cinderella a princess to attend a ball in a castle.
Throw away Rumpletiltskin with his greediness back to hell.

I’m the first teenage girl to climb Mt. Everest in the South East.
Eat food by the best cooks on styles of Italian and Chinese.
Awards I receive from the King and Queen of the British
Run to light the torch of Athens Olympics in Greece.
Crowned as Ms. Universe caused by keywords, “World Peace”.

Whooh! This trip is the most enjoyable of all
But I still wonder why I’m leaning on this wall.
The bell rings, and I totally opened my eyes.
“What?” I loudly cry as I deeply breathe then sigh.
I chuckle and whisper, “What a day dream it was!
But, oh no! I didn’t listen to this class!”

Golden Treasure by Jacquelyn D. Tualla, IV-A

It’s almost five o’clock
And I need to be quick
Because the beat of my heart shouts the paradise
Where the greatest treasures will be opened.

Luminous sky is now signing off
And the indigo shades conquer the roofs of the world.
The birds are now searching for their homes
Because the atmosphere is starting to be cold.

Amazing spots are all you can see
In the magical paradise where I want to be
The joy and calmness is what I feel here
That vanishes my sadness and dispels my fears.

Yay trees covers the beautiful paradise
With Mt. Makulot in the northeast which looks so nice.
In the north is the Taal Volcano in the middle of the lake
Which is an extraordinary spot but looks so fake.

At the west is the sun saying goodbye
To all the people and to the day that passes by
But instead of being lonely in its leaving
You will be happy and may shout “WOW!”

This is my paradise.
This is the place of my magical spots.
This is the most amazing place that can never be replaced in my mind.
But this is the golden treasure that can never be mine.

Rejection Failed by Allena Lyn C. Salva, III-A

I once fell in love
With someone I knew for not too long a time
And we got so close but not that enough
But still I loved him not knowing the reason behind

One day came
I couldn’t handle my feelings
And felt miserable
Because he had someone already

But I decided
To tell him my feelings
And when I did,
Rejection failed

Rejection failed
Because he accepted the fact
He didn’t do anything
But simply accepted my love

Finally one day,
We broke and get apart
We gave each other’s freedom
And moved on till we have another one

A memorable day came
We exchanged vows that day
But he always made me cry
And made me feel the hesitating part

He did something bad
And my heart got broken into pieces
But I learned how to fight the pains
And just continued what I started

And the saddest day came
The day of giving up
I could not hold on any longer
Because I was so tired of loving him more

Someone like him didn’t deserve a girl like me
He didn’t know how to love me
He didn’t care for feelings like mine
He did nothing but continue hurting me

Again, one day came
He returned to me and said he’s sorry
Then pleaded very softly,
“Please go back to me for the last chance, baby”

Again, rejection failed
Because I learned to forgive him
Then he continued loving me
And made me feel lucky to have someone like him

Finally, the memorable day came
Forgiveness was presented
Sorry was accepted
And of course, rejection was failed.

Nais by Nyreen Mae R. Atienza, IV-A

May saya at lungkot
Wakas ay hindi matiyak

At tulad ng hapong ito
Na sana’y walang katapusan
Nais kong humalakhak
Kahit puno ng kasinungalingan

Tama Na… Pwede Ba? by Jhanine C. Abendan, III-A

Noong una, di ka naman kapuna-puna
Di tayo close gaya ng iba
Pero ngayon sobra na ata…
Kaya tama na, pwede ba?

Bawat araw na dumaan
Lalong tumatag pagsasamahan
Pero parang nahuhulog na
Kaya tama na…pwede ba?

Aking naramdaman pinigilang pilit
Wala lang pag nangungulit, dedma pag lumalapit
Pero ang tunay pag naglalambing
Ako’y nahuhulog na kaya “Tama na… Pwede ba?” aking sambit.

Ngunit sino ba ang aking pinatatamaan?
Patay!

Pamamaalam by Joe Mark M. Idanan, II-A

Lahat sa mundo ay may katapusan
Kung kaya’t ang oras ay pahalagahan
Hindi natin alam kung kailan
Kung paano at kung saan

Mahirap man tanggapin
Wala tayong magagawa
Sadyang ganyan ang buhay
May malungkot at may masaya

Gayunpaman, huwag ibaon sa limot
Mga alaalang naitaguyod
Sapagkat ito ang bumuo
Sa kung ano ka ngayon

Mahirap man magpaalam
Sa kahapong nagdaan
Laging isaisip
May naghihintay na bukas

Magkatalo man tayo aking kaibigan
Lagi mong pakatatandaan

Blank by Nyreen Mae R. Atienza, IV-A

Naghihimutok ang aking damdamin
Sa katotohanang hindi ko maintindihan
Ang mga bagay sa aking paligid
Taliwas sa aking pinapangarap

Humiyaw ako sa galit
Ngunit ang mundo’y bingi
Umiyak ako sa sakit
Ngunit ang mundo’y walang pakialam

Ang kinalakihan kong paraiso
Ngayon ako’y iniwan
Sa isang sulok ng mundo

Karma by Nyreen Mae R. Atienza IV-A

Sa kaibuturan ng aking puso,
May damdaming pilit pinipigilan,
Damdaming kaytagal nang itinatago,
‘Pagkat puso’y takot sa kabiguan.

Araw at buwan ay nagdaan,
Pag-ibig sa iba’y pilit ibinaling,
Kaligayahang tila walang hanggan,
Unti-unting nawalan ng ningning.

Puso’y nasugatan, muling nasaktan,
Sa pag-ibig na ipinagpilitan,
Ako ngayon ay pinarurusahan
‘Pagkat karma ako’y tinamaan.

Naglaho by Roje L. Arriola, IV-A

Dati, isang barkadahan ang nabuo
Isang araw ng kasiyahan di pa makuntento
Laging magkakasama, san man magpunta
Gala, lakwatsa, basta lahat masaya

Ngunit bakit kaya paglipas ng panbahon
Samaha’y parang nanlagas na dahon,
Nawalan ng kulay, pagkakaibigang iniingatan
Nagkaroon ng lamat at nawasak nang tuluyan?

Maibalik pa kaya, dating masayang samahan?
O tuluyan na nga ba itong maglalaho’t masasayang?
Anong dahilan at tayo’y nagkaganito?

Pagtatakipsilim by Nyreen Mae R. Atienza, IV-A

Pagtatakipsilim by Nyreen Mae R. Atienza, IV-A

Lumbay ko’y labis-labis,
Puso’y lubhang nahahapis.

Mahal Kita… by Roje L. Arriola, IV-A

SINO ANG MAY SALA? by Rosamia D. Tubo, III-A

Unfinished Story… Takatak! by Jozanne Barbara Julag-ay, IV-A

“Tak! Tak! Tak!”
“Bakit ba may gano’n pa? Geh!
Kailangan lagi kang malinis at presentable ha! Pano? May pupuntahan pa akong meeting.
“Yan! Astig!” wika nya pagkatapos magbihis. “Kailangan kong galingan. 1, 2, 3… Go!” sabi nito sa sarili.
Nagsimula na siyang magtrabaho at so far, so good naman siya.
“My stupid boyfriend! He’s always been like that. I think he doesn’t love me anymore,” malungkot na sabi ng babae.
“Oh, you’re so sweet but no, thanks!
ITUTULOY…

Unfair Reality by Carolyn R. Castillo, IV-A

Life is too short to be spent with lots of regrets. We may fail sometimes, but it happens to make us stronger and to face the surprising storms of tomorrow. Live our life as happily as we can because we cannot say how certainly it may end. We love, feel hurt, forgive, and forget. There are times that we enter the world of emptiness, but we just have to think that it’s just part of living in reality.
People come and go. Some would leave and go leaving us without any reasonable explanation. And we cannot really please someone to stay if they really have to go. I know that we get tired becoming hopeful for so long but we must accept the fact that sometimes, something can never be the way we want it. It is we who can completely make our destiny. If we believe that, “Everything happens for a reason”, we will know how meaningful life is. We often expect something but reality doesn’t give us the chance to have it, and then we get hurt. We just have to live life to the fullest without any expectation because no one knows what’s in store for our future. It just comes out unexpectedly and unknowingly.
We cannot survive in our present if we still hold on to the pain of yesterday. We must not refuse to let go of the things that make us sad. We must admit, “No one can bring back the past.” We must start anew now if we don’t want to continue our miserable past. God doesn’t permit trials if we can’t solve them. And remember that life isn’t about being fair; it is about surpassing the unfair reality.

Gone by Jeaneth A. Guttierez, IV-A

This seems like forever to me and as much as I try to erase it, I just can’t. I am here now. I know I hurt you. I am hurting every person around me. I am hurting myself as well! That’s why I hate myself.
My ardent wish to set things right are shadowed with the fact that I’m such a selfish person! That this bad attitude which is beneath in me destroyed this God’s precious gift. I don’t want you to see myself but if dying can please you, then I’m giving up. After all, I have all I can bear and all I can give, but then the bits and pieces of my life have no sense of completion. I have done all I can. That is why no one can judge in what I have done if understanding is far from reality. I have nothing else to give but if I have something here, then it’s not worth it if I am going to bear it for you. There is nothing left for me to do, but say goodbye and so, weep for my own decision. My only regret is having been a good and nice friend and person to you! But it’s in your heart and you will realize that you have become the same person I used to be, then free yourself of losing such a great gift called friendship…

Losing Him by Jeaneth A. Guttierez, IV-A

Everything had turned out very uneasy to her since a loved one gone. One must go and one must be left in the lonely road. Sometimes she thought that there seemed no point in going on. At the middle of the night, she was trying to wipe and dry her tears. She thought of hurting other people because she held nothing to herself. She felt cold-hearted because after losing him, she thought of losing her damn life. She got mad of it. She tried to avoid that kind of feeling that she didn’t deserve to experience. She must not! She chose to give everything ahead and that hurt her most. Only love was responsible to it, to care for it, and to be true to it. No one could understand. No one was expecting to. She had to cry longing for her lost life! She tried more to be strong but the more she tried, the more she felt weaker. She was entitled to feel it but it’s a bitter way to learn from it. She had prioritized someone although she was just an option to him. She had lost this battle of love fighting for someone she was not supposed to have. And as she fell, she tried to smile and become courageous not knowing that she couldn’t do it…never!

Perpekto by Ice for Sale

Saan man dalhin, Science o Math man, kanta o sayaw, English o Tagalog, ako ang magaling. Pero hindi ako masaya. Bakit?
Pagdating sa love life, lalo namang bigo!
